Drama at Tararua College is a largely practical programme. Students study techniques, elements, conventions and technologies. In Year 9, students take Drama for one term to try the subject. It revolves around 'Techniques'—voice, body, space, and movement. Above all, it is designed to be fun and build confidence.
Students learn music theory (notation), composition, and performance (Guitar, Keyboard, Bass, Drums, Bucket Drums). The main focus is to experience as many musical concepts as possible and build engagement and enjoyment.
Art is a practical subject. In Year 9 students are given the opportunity to try a variety of different artistic mediums, as well as learning Drawing and Painting. Students learn to define shape and form through various mark-making methods and the application of paint. They begin the basics of composing using art conventions and artist models.

We are very proud of our department and look forward to broadening your child's creative outlook.
